Style Islam
Urban art and cute icons are not what we usually relate Islam to, but Styleislam is a label working to change that. Melih Kesmen began Style Islam, an Islamic-themed clothing line, in Germany three years ago. Kesmen blends Arabic and English in his calligraphy and animates words and Islamic slogans so that they are not only funky, but also have content. Ultimately, they are communicating Islam in a language young people can understand, without sacrificing the religion’s values in the process. Check out www.styleislam.com for more info.
